Best Blackpool Breaks

Blackpool Tower

Blackpool is like the Vegas of the Northwest. Millions of people flock to the coastal town each year to enjoy their summer holidays, short weekend breaks or just a lovely day trip. There are four amazing Britannia hotels dotted across the strip, so you are never too far away from one. These are the amazing Norbreck Castle Hotel, Savoy Hotel, Metropole Hotel and the Grand Hotel Blackpool.

There are a collection of classic Blackpool sights and activities that most people experience whilst in the seaside town. This can range from going into the Blackpool Tower, dancing on the iconic ballroom floor to meeting your favourite celebrity at Madam Tussauds and sticking around to see the wonderous illuminations after dark. Of course, these are all great, but if you are looking for those hidden gems that not everyone knows about, then here are a few of our favourites.

The Crypt

The Crypt is the UK’s first horror themed tearoom. This twisted tearoom has skeleton mugs, bloody walls and background metal music. There is an array of horror film memorabilia and general horror merch that you can purchase after your delicious afternoon meal.

In the back of the shop, there is also an amazing horror attraction! You can walk down an alley that contains figures from all your favourite scary films. It is less of jump-scare experience and more of a walk down memory lane for all those horror film fanatics.

Spitfire Visitor Centre

The Spitfire Visitor Centre is perfect for all history and aviation enthusiasts. Here you witness their Hangar 42 collection which includes a total of five Spitfire replicas currently being resorted with original wartime parts, which includes the iconic Hawker Hurricane MKI. There is also another collection of rare wartime RAF Airfield vehicles and equipment for you to explore.

You are taken back to another time with these grand, realistic aircrafts. If you want to go the extra mile, you can sit in the cockpit of a replica Spitfire Aircraft and feel like the pilots of yesteryear. You can also book a virtual reality experience or undergo training in the Spitfire Flight Simulator.

The Spitfire Visitor Centre is open to the public on Saturdays and requires a small entry fee that helps raise funds for the RAF memorial in Lytham, St Annes.
